We were founded in 2000 in Pittsford, VT. Michelle Kingston, President of Lazy Acres Equines, originally was interested in breeding and developing Pinto horses from a strong Morgan line. Luckily, a couple of "challenging" horses came into her life. The experience with traditional horse training and trainers left her dissatisfied. Unwilling to give up on her dream, or her horse, she went in search of answers. Through natural approaches she found exactly what she was looking for. She has dedicated many years to learning and developing partnerships with these horses. Now she knows those challenging horses were true gifts. In 2005 she married Tim Kingston and moved the business to Brandon, VT. Together they have built a place where students and teachers of the natural approach to horses can congregate, share, learn and grow. They pride themselves on their caring and honest approach to both the horses and the students. "Nothing is more gratifying than watching the development of confidence in both the horse and the human."
Michelle has a particular interest in helping people plan for their successful partnership with a horse. Her workbook was developed through the lesson program. It has specific homework assignments to help people become prepared for this amazing relationship.
Lazy Acres Equines has developed a specific program to teach people how to ride, handle and care for horses. Instructors work one on one with students to develop goals, design customized learning plans and problem solve. Students can use a horse that is carefully selected to be part of the lesson program, or can learn on their own horse. Novices and beginners are urged to come! We LOVE supporting people who are just starting on this incredible journey. Unlike other facilities, you won't be pressured to buy or show. We just want you to enjoy horses!
